Foundry Vineyards 'White On White'

Grapes — Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, Grenache Blanc

Region — Columbia Valley, Washington State

Tasting Notes — Pale gold with an inviting aromatic lift. Stone fruit, white flowers, honeysuckle, and a hint of apricot on the nose — classic Rhône aromatics translated to the high desert of Washington. The palate is round and textured with a refreshing backbone of acidity and a clean, lingering finish. Generous without being heavy. The kind of white that works at the table or on the porch.

The Wine — Foundry's most beloved wine and a decade-long favorite, White On White is a Rhône-inspired white blend sourced from certified organic and sustainably farmed vineyards across the Columbia Valley. Aged in equal parts stainless steel and neutral oak for five months, preserving brightness while adding gentle texture and depth.

Farming — Certified organic. Foundry works exclusively with growers who share their commitment to farming without pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides. Their estate vineyard, Stonemarker, was the first USDA certified organic vineyard in Walla Walla when it received certification in 2020.

Winemaking — Indigenous yeast fermentation only — a practice winemaker Jay Anderson adopted across all Foundry wines in 2019. Low intervention from vineyard to bottle, with a focus on letting the fruit and site speak. Minimal additions, no manipulation.

The Producer — Foundry Vineyards grew out of the Walla Walla Foundry, an internationally recognized contemporary art production facility founded in 1980 by Mark and Patty Anderson. The estate vineyard was planted in 1998, and the first wine followed in 2003. Today the winery is led by second-generation siblings Jay Anderson, the winemaker, and Lisa Anderson, who oversees business operations and community engagement. Together they have steered Foundry toward full organic certification, regenerative farming, and a low-intervention winemaking philosophy — while keeping the winery's deep roots in art and community firmly intact. As of 2023, every wine Foundry releases is certified organic.

Drink It With — Roasted halibut, lemon herb chicken, spring vegetable risotto, aged goat cheese, or a sunset on any body of water within reach of Walla Walla.
